A versão original desta música é da autoria dos Arrows de 1975, a versão de Joan Jett foi aquela que conheci primeiro. Para mim esta música revela o espírito desta autêntica deusa do Rock. Depois de ter saído das Runaways - banda que fundou com Lita Ford - Joan gravou em 1979, com dois membros dos Sex Pistols, Paul Cook e Steve Jones, uma versão da música que passou despercebida. Mais tarde, após ter tentado lançar o álbum homónimo de estreia na carreira a solo e de ter levado tampa em cerca de 23 majors, resolve criar a sua própria editora, sendo a primeira mulher a fazê-lo. Os senhores devem ter-se arrependido, já que após ter relançado o mesmo álbum através de um novo nome (Bad Reputation) em 1981, no final desse mesmo ano sai o álbum intitulado I Love Rock 'N Roll que factura qualquer coisa como 10 milhões de cópias muito graças ao single com o mesmo título. E porquê? Bem, se não for suficiente ouvir a faixa, então terei que dizer que esta é a essência do rock, simples, cheio de energia, suor e uma vontade interminável de gritar o refrão. Para mim, esta mulher é a representação desse espírito, que resiste a tudo, à passagem do tempo, das modas e de versões homicidas por estrelas pop que não sabem cantar.
